Administratively Wasur National Park is situated in Merauke Regency, Papua Province , Indonesia . Papua, the island that stores and thousands of stories of immense charm. Wasur National Park is located on the southeast border of Papua and Papua New Guinea. Wasur actually the name of one village at the park. Originally derived from the word in the language Marori Waisol which means garden. Before being appointed as national parks, the area is divided into two Wasur Wildlife area 206.00 ha and Blue Marsh Nature Reserve with an area of 4,000 hectares. In 1990, the Minister stated that the second area is the national park. However, the appointment of a new National Park yourself Wasur conducted in 1997 by the Minister of Forestry with an area of 413,810 ha, through changes in function and Wildlife Wasur Blue Swamp Nature Reserve.

Wasur National Park is divided into two geographical areas of coastal plains and hilly areas are bumpy (plato). The highest point located in areas with a high Waam only 90 m above sea level (asl). This area has a seasonal climate (monsoon). Climate is characterized by two main seasons, namely dry season which occurs between June and November / December and the wet season which occurs in December to May. The smallest 10 mm rainfall occurred in July-November and the largest 264 mm in January, with air temperature 22oC - 30oC. About 70 percent of the national park area of savanna, is another form of swamp forest, monsoon forest, beach forest, bamboo forest, grassland and swamp forest, sago is quite broad. Plant species that dominate the forest in this park, among others, fire-fire (Avicennia sp.), Tancang (Bruguiera sp.), Ketapan (Terminalia sp.), And eucalyptus (Melaleuca sp.).

Meanwhile, a common species include tree kangaroos (Dendrolagus spadix), musk king (Psittrichus fulgidus), cassowary gelambir (Casuarius Casuarius sclateri), large yellow bird of paradise (Paradisea Apoda novaeguineae), the king bird of paradise (Cicinnurus Regius rex), virgin crown / mambruk (Goura cristata), red bird of paradise (Paradisea rubra), freshwater crocodile (Crocodylus novaeguineae) and saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus).

A variety of exotic flora and fauna you will encounter along the journey. Wasur National Park is representative of the most extensive wetlands in Papua, most of stagnant water for 4-6 months a year. Wetlands play an important role as habitat for migratory birds.
