kalimantan islandThe Kalimantan Island was an island that was located between the Sumatran Island and the Sulawesi Island. Often this island was acknowledged as Borneo. This island was divided into the territory that is Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia.

The Kalimantan name was only used to refer to the Indonesian part. Whereas Borneo was used to reconcile the island whole, along with Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei. Kalimantan Island was the biggest island of the three in the world and was the only island in the world that was divided into three countries.

Kalimantan the Indonesian territory was divided into four provinces: Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and West Kalimantan. Kalimantan Island nature dominated by the forest and the mountain. The Kinabalu Mountain was the highest point. The Kalimantan Island had the attraction that was big for tourists because of being known as the green world, the wet tropical forest as well as the existence of the Dayak Ethnic Group that occupied this island. Apart from the Dayak ethnic group, was gotten also by the Banjar Ethnic Group and Melayu in Kalimantan.

The matter so that became the cause why the Kalimantan Island had various tourist attraction sorts, from the coast, the river, mountains, to the cultural tour. In Kalimantan was gotten two places of the famous floating market that is in the Muara Kuin, Barito River and Lok Baintan, Martapura River. In the Kalimantan Island, Pontianak City (West Kalimantan) was the city that was passed the equator. In this city was gotten the Pillar of the Equator to mark the zero levels line that was located in Siantan. (oks)
