Komodo Island is an island located at the westernmost tip of Nusa Tenggara Timur province, bordering the province of West Nusa Tenggara. Administratively, this island including the District of Komodo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. On this island, tourists can see the animals dragons are the largest lizard species in the world with an average body length reaches up to 3.13 meters and weighing up to 165 kg.
Tourists can also watch the various activities of these rare animals, like dragons mating occurs between May to August; middle dragons eat deer, goats, pigs and watch the dragons bask in the street and in the branches of trees in the morning. To protect the dragons from extinction, then in 1980 as the government has made the island of Komodo National Park Komodo. Six years later, namely in 1986, this national park is accepted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This national park consists of two large islands, namely Rinca Island and Padar, surrounded by several small islands. The total land area of the park reaches 1817 km ². On this island can be found in international resorts, some hostels provided by local people and the restaurant.
From Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara provincial capital, tourists can get on a plane headed Ende, a town on the island of Flores. Upon arrival, proceed to the city Labuhanbajo for ten hours on a minibus. From a city located in the westernmost part of Flores Island is the journey continues to Komodo Island by speed boat which takes about two hours.
