Singkarak Lake was located in two regencies that are the Tanah Datar Regency and the Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The Singkarak Lake was the upstream from the Stick (the river) Ombilin and the Anai Stick. Water to the Anai Stick was channeled beyond the tunnel that penetrated the Barisan Hill and was used to move the PLTA Singkarak generator that was near Lubuk Alung.
 
Widely 107.8 km² this lake was the second expanded lake in Sumatra Island after the Toba Lake that was gotten in North Sumatra. Besides this, Beauty of nature, air coolness and its water that were clear was the attraction from the Singkarak Lake so as so special to be visited. The lake that was located in the height of 362,5 m. from this sea level had the species of the typical fish that only lives in this lake. The local community mentioned him with “Bilih Fish” (Mystacoleuseus Padangensis). This fish could not be cultivated outside his original habitat, even that in aquarium, the pond, in fact in the floating net available in the Singkarak Lake.

For the tourists that want to enjoy the Singkarak Lake from nearby, was provided the tour boat and the traditional boat to follow this lake. The clarity of water and beauty could be of the Singkarak Lake felt from on top of the boat at a cost of that was relatively cheap.
