The Toba Lake was a volcanic lake in North Sumatra, Sumatra Island, Indonesia widely around 1700 square meters and the depth approximately 450 meters. In the middle of this lake was gotten a volcanic island was named the Samosir Island.
Since long before the Toba Lake had become the area of the aim of the tour that was important in North Sumatra apart from the Lawang Hill and Nias, that attracted domestic tourists and foreign countries.
The Toba Lake was the biggest lake in South-East Asia. The Toba Lake was estimated formed during the super volcano explosion around 73,000-75,000 last years. It’s volcanic dust spread to half earths, caused the mass death but also shrinked the amount of humankind as far as approximately 60% from the number of populations of earth humankind at that time. The eruption then caused the occurrence of the ice time. After this eruption, was formed the caldera that afterwards was filled by water and became the Toba Lake that now is known by us. Whereas the Samosir Island that was in the middle was formed because of the pressure above by magma that did not yet go out.
This lake more was similar to the ocean compared with the lake. The refreshing atmosphere, picturesque scenery and enchanted with mountains that surrounded this area, the Samosir Island stood in a grand manner in the middle of the lake, that will make tourists feel at home. In the middle of the Samosir Island, still had again the lake that increased the uniqueness of this tourist attraction. Tourists could enjoy beautifully sunset and sunrise here. Tourists could swim in this lake, or got on the boat over the lake. To reach the Samosir Island, tourists must cross the lake by the ship/the boat. In the Samosir Island tourists could see the house of the Batak kings's tradition ancient also the cemetery of the kings in the Tomok territory.
To reach the Toba Lake, tourists must go to Parapat that the distance 185 kilometers from the Medan City (the North Sumatran capital) that could be followed in time approximately 4 hours by the bus. Various accommodations, the hotel and the restaurant were available in Parapat with various facilities and the price to spoil tourists who visited. The souvenir like T Shirt, the hat, the hanging of the key, ulos (typical North Sumatran cloth), Batak typical carved objects, the Batak calendar, the traditional musical instrument, et cetera could tourists bought here.
